The game is big only because of the intrigue surrounding Chris “Beanie” Wells’ injured right big toe. “Beanie’s going to be fine,” Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel said, but Wells will skip this game, with Southern California up next. “Worry more about (hurricanes) Gustav and Hannah and those kinds of things,” Tressel said.

Eastern Illinois at No. 24 Illinois
11 a.m., Big Ten Network

Big only because the Illini will unveil their renovated Memorial Stadium with the help of all-time greats such as Dick Butkus.

Oregon State at No. 19 Penn State
2:30 p.m.

Big only because it’s the lone Big Ten game featuring an opponent from a BCS conference. (Sorry, Northwestern, Duke doesn’t count.)

San Diego State at Notre Dame

Big only because coach Charlie Weis no longer will call the plays and hired the blitz-obsessed Jon Tenuta to rework his defense.

Central Michigan at No. 2 Georgia
2:30 p.m., FSN South, Sun Sports

Big only because Chippewas QB Dan LeFevour, a Downers Grove native, could become a dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate with a huge game.

Miami at No. 5 Florida
