BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Georgia tailback Knowshon Moreno is the Southeastern Conference offensive player of the week.
Vanderbilt linebacker Patrick Benoist won defensive honors Monday and Alabama return man Javier Arenas turned in the top special teams performance.
Moreno rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns in Georgia’s 56-17 win over Central Michigan. He had a 52-yard TD run and also hurdled a defender on a 29-yarder.
Benoist had 15 tackles and a sack in Vandy’s win over South Carolina.
Arenas scored on an 87-yard punt return in Alabama’s win over Tulane.
Auburn tackle Jason Bosley was offensive lineman of the week and Florida defensive end Jermaine Cunningham claimed defensive line honors.
Arkansas receiver Joe Adams was the freshman of the week.
